Toyota bZ4X Owner's Manual: Steering Wheel adjusting

Adjustment Procedure

To ensure a comfortable and safe driving experience, start by ensuring that the vehicle is parked securely and that the ignition is turned off. This precaution prevents accidental changes while the vehicle is in motion.

Sit comfortably in the driver's seat and locate the adjustment lever or button on the underside or side of the steering column. Activate this mechanism to release the locking system of the steering wheel.

Once unlocked, adjust the steering wheel both in tilt and, if available, in telescopic movement. Shift the wheel forward or backward to align it with your natural arm position, so that your arms remain relaxed and your hands can rest comfortably at the recommended positions. A properly positioned steering wheel not only minimizes driver fatigue but also optimizes control and visibility.

When you have found your ideal position, firmly secure the adjustment lever until you hear a click or feel it lock into place, ensuring that the steering wheel will not move unexpectedly during driving.

Many modern vehicles include advanced memory settings for the steering wheel, which allow your preferred settings to be stored automatically. This innovative feature, seen in vehicles such as the Toyota bZ4X, helps maintain consistent comfort and control, even after multiple trips.

Regularly checking and adjusting the steering wheel contributes to better posture and enhances overall driving safety. It is also a crucial step in ensuring that your line of sight remains clear, allowing for more responsive handling of the vehicle.

  1. Hold the steering wheel and push the lever down.

WARNING

Caution While Driving

Do not adjust the steering wheel while driving. Attempting to make adjustments on the move can lead to unexpected handling issues, greatly increasing the risk of an accident that may result in death or serious injury.

After Adjusting the Steering Wheel

Make sure that the steering wheel is securely locked into place after you finish adjusting it. If the steering wheel is not firmly secured, it may shift suddenly during driving, potentially causing an accident or severe injury. In addition, an unsecured steering wheel may prevent the horn from sounding properly, further compromising safety.

Inside Rear View Mirror

The interior rear view mirror is designed to provide you with a clear and comprehensive view of what’s behind the vehicle. Its adjustable position allows you to fine-tune the mirror for maximum clarity, ensuring you can easily monitor surrounding traffic and maintain a safe driving environment.

Adjusting the Height of the Rear View Mirror

To accommodate your driving posture and enhance visibility, you can adjust the height of the rear view mirror. Simply move the mirror up or down until you achieve the optimal angle that fully meets your viewing needs.

When well-adjusted, the mirror not only helps in reducing blind spots but also plays a key role in overall driving safety by providing better situational awareness during everyday commutes and on longer journeys.

Anti-Glare Function (Manual Antiglare Rearview Mirror)

To reduce glare from the headlights of vehicles behind, use the manual anti-glare function. This feature allows you to minimize excessive reflection by adjusting the built-in lever, improving nighttime visibility and reducing eye strain.

A properly positioned mirror enhances situational awareness and contributes to safer driving, ensuring clear visibility of surrounding traffic conditions. Be sure to adjust the mirror before starting your journey and utilize the anti-glare function when necessary to maintain comfort and safety on the road.

Anti-Glare Function (Vehicles with Auto Anti-Glare Inside Rear View Mirror)

This advanced rearview mirror feature enhances night-time visibility by automatically reducing glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you. The mirror detects varying levels of brightness and adjusts accordingly to minimize reflected light, improving comfort and safety for the driver.

Activating and Deactivating the Automatic Anti-Glare Function

The system is programmed to enter ON mode each time the power switch is turned to ON. When active, the indicator (A) illuminates, confirming the function is engaged.

To disable the automatic anti-glare feature, simply press the designated button. This switches the system to OFF mode, and the indicator (A) will turn off. If needed, the function can be reactivated at any time by pressing the button again.

This intelligent anti-glare technology significantly reduces strain on the driver’s eyes, ensuring a clearer and more comfortable view of the road. Vehicles equipped with such innovations provide a safer and more stress-free driving experience, especially in nighttime or high-glare conditions.
