LTA functions

• When driving on a road with clearly defined lane lines and with dynamic radar cruise control activated, the system uses the front camera along with the radar sensor to detect lane markings as well as preceding and surrounding vehicles. It then assists by making subtle steering adjustments to maintain the vehicle’s lane position.

Use this function only on highways and expressways.

If dynamic radar cruise control is not operating, the function will not operate.

In situations where the lane lines are difficult to see or are not visible, such as when in a traffic jam, support will be provided using the path of preceding and surrounding vehicles.

If the system determines that the steering wheel has not been operated for a certain amount of time or the steering wheel is not being firmly gripped, the driver will be alerted and this function will be temporarily canceled.

If the steering wheel is firmly gripped, the function will begin operating again.

Before Using the LTA System

• Do not depend entirely on the Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) system. It does not provide autonomous driving and does not reduce the attention required for safe driving. The driver remains fully responsible for monitoring surroundings, steering appropriately, and making real-time driving decisions. Fatigue management is also critical-drivers should take necessary breaks during long trips.
• Neglecting proper steering control and situational awareness may lead to accidents.
• When the LTA system is not in use, it should be turned off using the LTA switch to prevent unnecessary intervention.

Operating Conditions of the Function

The Lane Tracing Assist system is operable only when all the following conditions are met:

• Lane markings or the movement of surrounding vehicles are detected.
• Dynamic radar cruise control is activated.
• The width of the lane falls between approximately 10 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meters).
• The turn signal lever is not engaged.
• The vehicle is traveling along a relatively straight path rather than a sharp curve.
• Acceleration or deceleration remains within a controlled range.
• The driver is not exerting excessive force on the steering wheel.
• The hands-off steering wheel warning is inactive.
• The vehicle is positioned near the center of the lane.

Temporary Cancelation of Functions

• If the operating conditions are no longer met, the function may temporarily deactivate. However, once conditions normalize, the system will automatically resume operation.
• While the function is in use, if conditions change and no longer allow operation, a buzzer may sound to notify the driver that Lane Tracing Assist has been canceled.
• Drivers can always override the steering assistance by manually adjusting the steering wheel.

Lane Departure Warning Function While LTA is Active

• Even if the Lane Departure Alert (LDA) warning method is set to steering wheel vibration, if the vehicle drifts outside its lane while LTA is active, an audible buzzer will sound to alert the driver.
• If steering wheel movement resembling a purposeful lane change is detected, the system assumes intentional maneuvering and will not issue a warning.

Hands off steering wheel warning operation

• When the system determines the driver is not holding the steering wheel, a message urging the driver to grip the steering wheel and the icon shown in the illustration will be displayed on the multiinformation display to warn the driver. If the system detects that the steering wheel is held, the warning will be canceled. When using the system, make sure to grip the steering wheel firmly, regardless of whether the warning is operating or not.

• If no operations are detected for a certain amount of time, the warning will operate, and the function will be temporarily canceled. This warning may also operate if the driver only operates steering wheel a small amount continuously.

Situations in Which the Hands-Off Steering Wheel Warning May Not Operate Properly

• The warning function may not activate depending on various factors, including the vehicle's condition, steering input dynamics, and road surface irregularities. Situations such as sudden changes in road grip, uneven terrain, or unexpected external influences may affect system performance.

Enabling/Disabling the System

The Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) system toggles between ON and OFF each time the LTA switch is pressed.

When the LTA system is ON, the corresponding indicator on the dashboard will illuminate, confirming activation.

• When a preceding or surrounding vehicle exits its lane-your vehicle may follow suit, drifting out of its intended path.
• When a preceding or surrounding vehicle is driving very close to the lane lines-your vehicle may mirror its trajectory and also move off course.
• When objects or structures are moving nearby-external influences may cause the vehicle to sway unexpectedly.
• When struck by a crosswind or affected by turbulence from surrounding vehicles-the system may struggle to compensate, requiring manual correction.
• When sensor accuracy is compromised-the system may not correctly detect obstacles or lane boundaries, reducing its effectiveness.
• In situations where lane markings are indistinct or missing-the system may fail to maintain proper alignment.
• When disabling the system is necessary-drivers should be aware of conditions where manual control is preferable over assisted guidance.
