Basic Functions

The Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system is designed to help drivers maintain lane positioning by providing warnings when unintentional lane deviation is detected. Additionally, it can make slight steering adjustments to assist in keeping the vehicle within its lane or designated course*.

The system relies on a front-facing camera to detect lane markings or a course boundary*.

Lane Departure Alert Function

When the system detects the possibility of lane departure, it activates a warning that appears on the vehicle’s display. The driver is alerted either through a warning buzzer or by steering wheel vibration.

Operating Conditions of Each Function

• Lane Departure Alert and Prevention Function

The system operates only when the following conditions are met:

• The vehicle speed is approximately 30 mph (50 km/h) or higher.

  Operation may be possible at speeds around 25 mph (40 km/h) or more if nearby vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, or pedestrians are detected.

• The system successfully detects a lane marking or course* boundary.

  If markings are detected on only one side, assistance will be applied to that side only.

  - The lane width must be at least 9.8 ft. (3 m).

• The turn signal lever is inactive.

  (For vehicles with Blind Spot Monitoring-BSM: If a vehicle is detected in the direction of the turn signal, the alert may still activate.)

• The vehicle is not navigating a sharp curve.
• Acceleration and deceleration remain within a controlled range.
• The steering wheel is not being turned aggressively for a lane change.
• The Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) or Traction Control (TRC) system is not disabled.

Temporary Cancelation of Functions

The function may temporarily deactivate if operating conditions are no longer met. However, once the system detects optimal driving conditions again, it will automatically resume operation.

Operation of Lane Departure Alert and Lane Departure Prevention Functions

• System performance may vary based on vehicle speed, road conditions, and the angle at which lane departure occurs.
• Even if vibration is selected as the warning method, the system may still trigger an audible buzzer in certain conditions.
• If the road layout is unclear or irregular, the lane departure alert and prevention functions may not activate.
• If the system perceives an intentional maneuver-such as avoiding a pedestrian or parked vehicle-it may choose not to intervene.
• Vehicles with BSM: The system may not always accurately determine the risk of collision with adjacent vehicles.

In the following situations, a message urging the driver to operate the steering wheel and an icon will be displayed and a buzzer will sound to warn the driver. When using the system, make sure to grip the steering wheel firmly, regardless of whether the warning is operating or not.

• When the system detects that the driver is not securely holding the steering wheel or is not actively steering while the lane departure prevention function is engaged, the system issues a warning.

The duration of the warning buzzer will increase as the steering assist function is repeatedly activated. If the system recognizes that the driver has resumed control of the steering wheel, the buzzer will stop.

Even if the system detects that the steering wheel has been operated, the warning buzzer may continue sounding for a brief period to ensure driver awareness.

Break Suggestion Function

The system will suggest taking a break when all the following conditions are met:

• The vehicle speed is approximately 32 mph (50 km/h) or higher.
• The lane width is around 9.8 ft. (3 m) or more.

In certain cases, such as varying road conditions or environmental factors, the break suggestion function may not operate.
