Toyota bZ4X Owner's Manual / Driving / Using the driving support systems / Toyota Teammate Advanced Park: Your Parking Assistance System

Function Description

Toyota Teammate Advanced Park represents a sophisticated system designed to aid drivers in safely and smoothly maneuvering their vehicle into or out of parking spaces. This technology enhances the parking experience by providing a comprehensive view of the vehicle's surroundings and the intended parking spot through a bird's eye perspective displayed on the multimedia screen. It offers operational guidance via visual cues and buzzer alerts and takes control of gear shifting, steering wheel operation, and accelerator and brake pedal input during the parking process.

Furthermore, the panoramic view monitor* provides an extended view of the areas in front, behind, and directly above your vehicle, enabling you to confirm the conditions of the entire surrounding environment before and during parking maneuvers.

The turn signal lights on your vehicle will automatically blink once the parking assistance is initiated and will continue until the vehicle is correctly positioned within the target parking space. This feature serves as a clear notification to pedestrians and other vehicles in the vicinity that an automated parking operation is in progress.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of Advanced Park can be influenced by various factors, including the condition of the road surface, the specific characteristics of your vehicle, and the distance and orientation relative to the parking space. In some instances, assisting with parking in the desired spot might not be feasible.

Always ensure that you use Toyota Teammate Advanced Park in strict accordance with all applicable local road traffic laws and regulations to maintain safety and legality.

Functions of Advanced Park Perpendicular Parking (Forward and Reverse) Assistance

This function provides comprehensive assistance starting from the moment your vehicle is positioned near a designated perpendicular parking space until it is completely and accurately parked within that space, whether you are driving forward or reversing.

Perpendicular Exiting (Forward and Reverse) Assistance

This feature offers assistance when you are ready to depart from a perpendicular parking space. It guides your vehicle from its parked position to a point where you can easily and safely exit the parking area, regardless of whether you need to move forward or reverse to leave.

Parallel Parking Assistance

Similar to perpendicular parking, this function aids you in parallel parking. It activates from the point where your vehicle is near the intended parallel parking spot and continues until your vehicle is successfully parked within the lines.

Parallel Exiting Assistance

When you need to leave a parallel parking spot, this function will guide your vehicle from its parked position to a location that provides ample space for you to easily maneuver out into traffic.

Memory Function for Parking

The Advanced Park system also includes a memory function that allows you to register specific parking spaces. Once a space is memorized, the system can provide automated assistance to guide your vehicle precisely into that pre-registered parking location whenever you choose to use it.

Additional Features and Information About Toyota Teammate Advanced Park

Intuitive Parking Assist Pop-Up Display

Regardless of whether the standard intuitive parking assist system is active or not, if the sensors of the intuitive parking assist detect an object while the Toyota Teammate Advanced Park is in operation, an alert will automatically pop up on the multimedia display, overlaying the regular Advanced Park guidance screen. This ensures you are immediately aware of any detected obstacles.

Brake Control Operation During Advanced Park

While the Advanced Park system is actively guiding your 2025 Toyota bZ4X into a parking space, if the system detects a high possibility of a collision with a moving or stationary object, it will automatically engage both the EV system output restriction control to limit power and the brake control to slow or stop the vehicle.

If the brake control is activated by the Advanced Park system, the automated parking operation will be immediately suspended, and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display in the instrument cluster, informing you of the interruption.

Buzzer Feedback

Please be aware that the audibility of the buzzer alerts from the Advanced Park system can be affected by surrounding noises or sounds originating from other systems within your vehicle. In noisy environments, the buzzer might be more difficult to hear, so it's important to also pay attention to the visual cues on the display.

Troubleshooting a Black Screen During Advanced Park Operation

If the multimedia display in your 2025 Toyota bZ4X shows a black screen while the Advanced Park system is operating, it could indicate that the system is experiencing interference from external radio waves or that a malfunction has occurred within the system itself.

If you have a radio antenna installed near any of the vehicle's cameras, try relocating it as far away from the cameras as possible to minimize potential interference.

If you do not have a radio antenna near a camera, and the black screen persists even after turning the vehicle's power switch off and then restarting the EV system, it is recommended to schedule an inspection of your vehicle at an authorized Toyota dealership to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Perpendicular Parking (Forward/Reverse) Functionality

The perpendicular parking function of the Toyota Teammate Advanced Park, which can assist with both forward and reverse parking, can be utilized if the system is able to successfully detect the target parking space when your 2025 Toyota bZ4X is stopped in close proximity and generally perpendicular to the center of the parking space. Furthermore, depending on the specific conditions of the parking space and the surrounding environment, the Advanced Park system might need to adjust the vehicle's direction of travel multiple times. In such cases, the system will automatically control the gear shift position as part of its assistance to ensure a smooth and accurate parking maneuver.

Advanced Park Cancellation and Suspension When Assistance Will Be Canceled

In the following situations, the Toyota Teammate Advanced Park operation in your 2025 Toyota bZ4X will be canceled. If this occurs, firmly grip the steering wheel and depress the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a stop.

Once the system operation has been canceled, you will need to either begin the Advanced Park process again from the start or manually park the vehicle using the steering wheel and pedals.

When Assistance Will Be Suspended

In the following situations, the Toyota Teammate Advanced Park operation will be temporarily suspended.

You can typically resume the assistance by following the instructions that will be displayed on the multimedia screen. Pay close attention to these prompts to continue the parking maneuver.

Also, when the assistance is suspended, if you change the gear shift position twice while keeping the brake pedal depressed, the assistance will be completely canceled for that specific parking attempt. However, if the assistance is initially suspended due to a change in the gear shift position by the driver, assistance will be canceled if the shift position is changed even once more.

Changing the Advanced Park settings

Select on the multimedia display, and then select "Advanced Park".

Customizing Your Toyota Teammate Advanced Park Settings

The Toyota Teammate Advanced Park system in your 2025 Toyota bZ4X offers several customizable settings to tailor the parking assistance to your preferences and needs:

Speed Profile

You can adjust the vehicle's speed at which the automated parking assistance is performed. This allows you to choose a speed that feels comfortable for you during the parking maneuver.

Please note that the speed profile setting cannot be modified when you are registering a parking space to the memory function.

Obstacle Detection Range

You have the option to set the distance at which the Advanced Park system will begin to take action to avoid obstacles detected around your vehicle during parking assistance.

Preferred Parking Method

When you are near a parking space where both perpendicular (forward/reverse) and parallel parking are feasible options, you can set your preferred parking direction to be displayed by the system.

Preferred Parking Direction (Perpendicular)

You can specifically select whether you prefer the system to initially suggest pulling into a perpendicular parking space in a forward or reverse direction when both options are available.

Preferred Exit Direction (Perpendicular)

When exiting from a perpendicular parking space, you can set your preference for the system to initially suggest exiting by moving forward or reversing, and to which side (left or right).

Preferred Exit Direction (Parallel)

Similarly, when exiting from a parallel parking space, you can choose your preferred direction – left or right – for the system to suggest.

Camera View When Parking

You can adjust the displayed angle of the camera image that appears on the multimedia screen when you are using the perpendicular parking (forward/reverse) or parallel parking functions. This allows you to optimize the view for better situational awareness.

Camera View When Exiting

Likewise, you can configure the preferred display angle of the camera image when utilizing the perpendicular exiting (forward/reverse) or parallel parking exit functions.

Parking Path Adjustment

The trajectory that the vehicle follows during automated parking assistance can be fine-tuned to be slightly more inward or outward within the parking space. This can be useful for personalizing the final parking position.

If your vehicle's tires are worn, you might notice that the parking path is slightly offset from the center of the parking space. In such cases, you can use the Parking Path Adjustment setting to compensate for this and center the vehicle more accurately.

Road Width Adjustment

When parking assistance begins, you can adjust the initial amount of lateral movement that the vehicle makes while moving forward to approach the parking space. This can be helpful in different parking environments.

Park Position Adjustment (Forward)

You can slightly adjust the final position at which perpendicular parking (when driving forward into the space) is completed. This setting is not available when using the memory function for parking.

Park Position Adjustment (Reverse)

Similarly, you can fine-tune the final position after perpendicular parking is completed when reversing into the space. This adjustment is also not available when using the memory function.

Rear Accessory Setting

If you have installed a rear accessory such as a trailer hitch to your 2025 Toyota bZ4X, you can adjust the system to account for the added length at the rear of the vehicle. This helps the Parking Support Brake and Advanced Park systems avoid potential collisions with objects located behind your vehicle.

Clear Registered Parking Space

You have the ability to delete parking spaces that you have previously registered to the memory function. Please note that you cannot delete parking space information while the Advanced Park system is actively providing assistance or while you are in the process of registering new parking spaces to the memory function.

NOTICE - Important Considerations for Park Position Adjustments

Advanced Park Displayed Messages

The current operating status, the steps of the assistance process, and other relevant information about Toyota Teammate Advanced Park will be displayed on the multimedia screen in your 2025 Toyota bZ4X. If a message appears, it is important to read it carefully and respond according to the instructions provided on the screen.

If "No available parking space" is displayed

This message indicates that the system could not detect a suitable parking space or parking lines in the current location. Try moving your vehicle to a different spot where a parking space or clear parking lines are more readily detectable.

If "Unavailable in current condition" is displayed

This message suggests that the Advanced Park system cannot be used in the current situation due to various environmental or vehicle-related factors. Try moving your vehicle to another location and attempting to use the system there.

If "Not enough space to exit" is displayed

This message appears specifically when using the parallel parking exit function. It indicates that the system has determined that there is insufficient space to perform an automated exit, possibly due to the close proximity of vehicles parked in front and behind yours or the presence of an obstruction in your intended exit path. In such cases, you will need to manually check the area around your vehicle and exit the parking space yourself.

If "Cannot control speed" is displayed

This message indicates that the Advanced Park system has detected that it cannot accurately control the vehicle's speed, typically when operating on a slope or a surface with steps or significant inclines. As a result, the automated parking assistance has been canceled. It is recommended to use the system on a level surface to ensure proper speed control.

If "Obstacle detected" is displayed

This message appears when the system's sensors have detected a moving or stationary object in close proximity to your vehicle that poses a potential collision risk. In response, the EV system output control and/or braking control of the Advanced Park system will activate, and the automated assistance will be temporarily suspended. Carefully check the surrounding area for any obstacles. To resume the parking assistance, select the "Start" button on the multimedia display.

If "No available parking space to register" is displayed

This specific message appears when you select the option to register a parking space (indicated by a specific icon) in a location where the system cannot detect suitable features on the road surface to define a parking space. To register a parking space, ensure you are in a location where the system can recognize differences in the road surface that delineate the parking area.
